Connecticut Innovations Invests $39.4 in FY 2019
Deals leveraged more than $360 million in outside capital over the year
Rocky Hill, Conn. – October 29, 2019 – Connecticut Innovations (CI), Connecticut’s strategic venture capital arm and the leading source of financing and ongoing support for Connecticut’s innovative, growing companies, today announced that it invested $39.4 million across 108 investment transactions during its 2019 fiscal year, running from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.
The transactions leveraged an additional $360.8 million in investments in Connecticut’s early-stage companies. Of the $39.4 million, CI invested $25.3 million in bioscience and digital health companies, $10.3 million in information technology companies and $3.8 million in companies in other key industries.
“It was another very active investment year for CI as we continue to support the growth efforts of Connecticut’s promising companies,” said David Wurzer, chief investment officer and executive vice president at Connecticut Innovations. “During the year, we added several new investments to the portfolio across a broad range of industry sectors. We continue to be excited by Connecticut’s innovative, young companies and their prospects for success.”
Connecticut Innovations’ venture capital portfolio includes investments in approximately 180 companies with business operations throughout the state.
