Connecticut Innovations Invests $6.9 Million in Second Quarter

Investments leverage $41.2 million in outside capital in fiscal Q2 FY2019

Rocky Hill, Conn. – February 5, 2019Connecticut Innovations (CI), Connecticut’s strategic venture capital arm and the leading source of financing and ongoing support for the state’s growing companies, today announced that it invested $6.9 million in 24 companies and scientific projects during the three months ending December 31, 2018.

The investments leveraged an additional $41.3 million in capital to further support the growth of these companies. Of the $6.9 million, CI invested $4.3 million in bioscience, $2 million in information technology and $0.5 million in other technologies.

“We continue to invest in thriving Connecticut startup companies in bioscience, healthcare and IT-related fields,” said David Wurzer, executive vice president and chief investment officer at Connecticut Innovations. “Our second-quarter participation as a lead or syndicate investor resulted in an additional $41.2 million of capital being deployed in seven new companies and 17 existing Connecticut startup technology companies and scientific projects.”
