Connecticut Innovations Invests $10.2 Million in Third Quarter

Investments leverage $56.4 million in outside capital in fiscal Q3 FY2019

Rocky Hill, Conn. – May 3, 2019 – Connecticut Innovations (CI), Connecticut’s strategic venture capital arm and the leading source of financing and ongoing support for the state’s innovative, growing companies, today announced that it invested $10.2 million in 30 unique companies and scientific projects during the three months ended March 31, 2019. The Q3 investments leveraged an additional $56.4 million in capital to further support the growth of these companies.

Of the $10.2 million, CI invested $6.9 million in bioscience and healthcare IT, $3.2 million in information technology and just over $105,000 in other technologies.

“In the third quarter, Connecticut Innovations continued investing in promising startup companies in bioscience, healthcare and IT-related fields across the state,” said David Wurzer, executive vice president and chief investment officer at Connecticut Innovations. “As either a lead or syndicate investor, our third-quarter investment activity resulted in an additional $56.4 million of capital being invested in Connecticut, in a range of startup technology companies and scientific projects.”
