Disrupting Wellness: Female Founders in Conversation
Recently, we brought together a group of trailblazing female founders in our portfolio and innovation ecosystem to discuss how they are disrupting the wellness industry through their respective ventures, including obesity management, personalized meal planning and reinventing fast food.
The discussion, moderated by Courtney White, president of Butternut Media and former president of Food Network, dives into each entrepreneur’s experience with a fun, metaphorical twist.
If you have a little time, take a few minutes to snack on these short videos featuring Dr. Katherine Saunders from FlyteHealth, Lauren Driscoll from NourishedRx and Shannon Allen from grown.
How It Started vs. How It's Going
Shannon Allen is the creator of grown, a fast-food restaurant offering real food, cooked slow for fast people, and delivering organic, local and sustainable ingredients without harmful products like GMOs, preservatives, hormones or processed sugar. grown’s restaurant concept was inspired by the Allens’ middle child, Walker, and evolved from Shannon’s television show, The Pre-Game Meal, which was derived from 18 years of preparing optimal game-day meals for her husband, Ray Allen.
Lauren Driscoll is the founder and CEO of NourishedRx, a digital health company that provides personalized, culturally relevant food solutions to health plan members and individuals who need it most. NourishedRx focuses on health plan members and advanced primary care provider patients living with diet-sensitive chronic conditions, particularly those at risk of nutrition insecurity.
Dr. Katherine Saunders is a physician entrepreneur, a leading expert in obesity medicine, and the co-founder of FlyteHealth (previously Intellihealth). FlyteHealth is a leader in supporting patients with obesity through tech-enabled medical care. What sets FlyteHealth apart is the combination of expertise and passion its providers bring to the global concern of obesity, as well as the individuality of each human being who needs care.
