Executives in Residence

CI’s Executives in Residence (EIR) network of experienced company founders, executives and investors helps accelerate the growth of Connecticut’s most promising ventures. CI portfolio companies interested in participating must have a significant value proposition and be in growth mode, with a strong management team open to outside inputs. EIRs work with our portfolio company CEOs to agree on a specific execution-oriented project, such as increasing revenues using marketing and extensive personal relationships to acquire new customers and/or new investors.

We are open to expanding our team of EIRs with successful executives who are ready to work hard, give back and help boost Connecticut’s economy and startup ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to participate alongside the most active early-stage venture fund on the east coast, and have impact.

CI has developed a network of experienced entrepreneurs, executives and investors to help accelerate the growth of Connecticut’s most promising early-stage ventures. CI portfolio companies that are interested in participating must have a significant value proposition and a large market opportunity, and be in growth mode, with a strong management team. The EIR will work with your company and CEO to create a statement of work around a specific project, such as scaling the business by validating its long-term visions and strategies for customer acquisition and capital-raising.

Existing portfolio companies should speak with their portfolio managers to see if they are eligible for an EIR project. If so, they will work with their portfolio manager to identify an EIR and develop a scope of work. A typical project would include clear and actionable milestones, be approximately $15k–$25k, run three to six months, and involve an EIR that will commit to five to 20 hours per week and ideally be a Connecticut resident to deliver the project. We encourage relationships to last beyond the original scope of work, with portfolio companies perhaps hiring or working with the EIRs directly afterwards, if the engagement is successful. It is also considered a win if the EIR becomes a part of the company’s team, or an advisor, investor or board member. The dollar amount invested by CI into the project will convert into equity at a later date, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. Some exceptions may apply.
