Capital Access for Business

CAB is for small and entrepreneurial Connecticut businesses that are requesting financing that a bank cannot approve without assistance from the program. You can use the proceeds for most business purposes, including working capital, machinery and equipment, and the purchase or upgrading of facilities. Proceeds cannot be used to fund investment or residential real estate mortgages. Investment mortgages are defined as those that are less than 51% business-owner occupied.

CI invests in businesses that are principally located in Connecticut and are registered with the secretary of state. (You must register prior to receiving our funding.) CI prefers to invest in companies that will feed our seed pipeline, so meeting our seed fund criteria is a plus. In addition, your company must:

Have been in operation for fewer than 7 years

Be presently developing a technology

Have non-recurring revenue from non-grant sources of less than $2 million

Have fewer than 25 employees, and at least 75% must work in Connecticut

Have fewer than 25 employees, and at least 75% must work in Connecticut

Affiliates or subsidiaries of larger companies, or those that are controlled by common owners from larger companies, are not eligible for pre-seed funding. Meeting the requirements above does not guarantee funding.
