2009: A Successful Year for CI — and Its Portfolio Companies

Congratulations to Connecticut Innovations on its twentieth anniversary and another successful year of investing in Connecticut’s future! It has been an exciting twenty years for CI and its portfolio companies. As governor of the State of Connecticut, I am proud of CI’s accomplishments and of the economic development value they bring to the state.

Since its inception in 1989, CI has supported entrepreneurial activity by investing in companies at their very earliest stages of development. Many entrepreneurs received their first institutional investment from CI, receiving the boost they needed to launch their businesses. Many also, with CI’s assistance, went on to raise subsequent rounds in the private sector and gain recognition for their accomplishments through IPOs and acquisitions.

Today, more than ever, CI’s role in growing the state’s technology sector is critically important. The investments CI makes in emerging technology companies are long-term investments that have already made a significant positive impact on our economy and will impact our economy for many years to come. Thanks in large part to Connecticut Innovations’ investments and guidance, Connecticut’s technology sector is strong and its future is bright.

Through the hard work of its dedicated staff and board, CI has not only sustained itself over time but excelled.
