Zadspace offers a proprietary platform that enables retailers, etailers and catalogs, such as Orchard Brands Catalog Group and Signature Styles, to deliver micro-targeted, data-driven advertisements on labels (“Zads”) that are affixed to outgoing direct-to-consumer packages.
Zadspace’s one-to-one personalized messaging was recently touted by Xerox’s Global CMO who, in her keynote address to the Direct Marketing Association, described it as a true communication and marketing innovation.
Connecticut Innovations successfully encouraged Zadspace to relocate from California to Connecticut in 2011. Zadspace sought investors for a Series B investment round, and CI stepped up to the plate, discussing this opportunity with potential co-investors, including DFJ Frontier. The two firms ultimately collaborated in assembling a syndicate of investors for the company’s $3.2 million Series B round, which included a $750,000 investment from CI through the Eli Whitney Fund. In addition, CI helped to recruit board members and introduced Zadspace to accountants and attorneys.
“CI has been more of a business partner than a venture partner! Over a short time, they have helped us find local Connecticut vendors, day-to-day service providers and potential strategic alliances with other CI portfolio companies. Their collaborative approach has added significant value in a very short period of time.” – Jeffrey Giordano, CEO, Zadspace
